Bangkok Community Cup

Format, mechanics & run plan for the first multi-community padel tournament in Bangkok.

23 May 2026 Sterling · 5 courts 9:00 – 20:45 · Full day 8 communities · 71 matches

What is the Bangkok Community Cup?

The Bangkok Community Cup is the first multi-community padel tournament in Bangkok, organized by The Padel Society. We're bringing together the city's most active padel communities for a full day of competitive, fun, and well-organized padel — with prize money, sponsors, and a trophy on the line.

This isn't a one-off friendly. This is Bangkok's defining padel community event.

Why your community should be here
80 players discover your community

Every community brings 10 players. That's 70 other players spending a full day on courts with your team, seeing how you play, how you're organized, and who you are.

A full day of content

Padel matches, team shots, draft reveals, trophy moments — a professional videographer will be on-site. You leave with content that lasts months.

Build your community identity

The draft creates a shared journey. Your players didn't just show up — they were picked, they competed as a team, they represented something. That sticks.

Grow your player network

Your players will meet the best people in Bangkok's padel scene in one day. That's good for them, and good for you — your community grows from it.

Bragging rights

One community gets to call themselves Bangkok Community Cup champions. That means something in a city where padel is growing every week.

100% goes back into the event

Every baht we collect in entry fees is re-invested directly into the competition day — courts, prize money, trophies, videographer, staff. After covering all costs, whatever remains becomes prize money. The Padel Society makes zero profit. Zero.

Sterling Club, Bangkok · 23 May 2026 · 5 courts · Superset to 9

How it works
  1. 8 communities, 10 players each (5M + 5F + 2 captains who can also play). Entry: 15,000 THB per community.
  2. Two captains (1M + 1F) — both play. Draft order based on captain TPS average; lower average picks first.
  3. Players register and list preferred communities. Captains see your preferences when picking.
  4. NBA-style draft — 20 May 2026. Captains build their teams from the shared player pool. No teams before Draft Day.
  5. Group lottery (same night). 8 communities drawn into Group A or Group B (4 per group).
  6. Round 1: round robin. Each community plays the other 3 in its group. Each series: 3 matches (1M + 1F + 1Mix). Every player guaranteed at least 1 match.
  7. Top 2 per group → Semifinals. Bottom 2 → Consolation. All knockout series use 5 matches (2M + 2F + 1Mix) — every player plays in every round, both brackets.
  8. Finals block. Grand Final · 3rd Place Final · Consolation Final — all in parallel to close the day.

Match format

Every match is Superset to 9 — first to 9 games, golden point at every deuce, ~40 min avg. Round 1: 3 matches per series (1M+1F+1Mix). All knockouts: 5 matches per series (2M+2F+1Mix).

Prize money & sponsors

The Bangkok Community Cup features prize money for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, funded entirely from community entry fees after covering event costs. Exact amounts confirmed ahead of Draft Day. Consolation bracket teams compete for the title and priority access to future editions. Sponsors activate on-site throughout the day.

This event is for Bangkok's most active padel communities — the ones who show up, compete, and make the city's padel scene what it is. If your community has been selected, it's because you've earned your place at this table.

How every match is played

  • Superset to 9 — first to 9 games wins. Tiebreak at 8-8. Golden point at every deuce. ~40 min avg.
  • 50-min hard cap — leader wins. Tied at cap → 1 golden point decides.
  • All matches played regardless of score — no early stops.

Matches per series

StageSeriesMatches
Round 11M + 1F + 1 Mixed3
Semifinals (all brackets)2M + 2F + 1 Mixed5
Finals (all brackets)2M + 2F + 1 Mixed5
All knockout series — main draw and consolation — use 5 matches. Every player plays in every round from the Semis onward. In R1, captain rotates freely — everyone guaranteed at least 1 match.

Player draft — NBA style

Communities are built through a public draft, not pre-formed rosters. Teams do not exist before Draft Day. The draft is where everything starts.

⚡ Draft Day — Wednesday 20 May 2026 · COMPLETED Live in public · Group A / Group B draw followed · Tournament: Saturday 23 May 2026 · COMPLETED
Community confirmation deadline: Sunday 4 May 2026 — CLOSED. All 8 community slots are confirmed and locked. No further changes possible.

Roster
  • 10 players per community (5M + 5F) + 2 captains (1M + 1F) who can also play
  • Captain TPS cap: max 3.5 per captain. Draft order = lowest captain average picks first.
  • Rosters lock the day after draft. One player = one community. No dual rosters.
  • Up to 2 injury substitutes per community, registered before roster lock.

How the draft works
  1. Players register via the TPS app and list 2–3 preferred communities (not a guarantee).
  2. Captains build their teams by picking from the shared male and female pools in draft order.
  3. Immediately after the draft: live group lottery assigns all 8 communities to Group A or Group B.
Draft Day is an event in itself. Live draw, draft board on screen, community identity starts here — 3 weeks before a ball is hit.

Consolation bracket (3rd + 4th per group) earns no prize money, but the title is real and all Consolation teams get priority access to future editions. Every player still plays in every round — same 5-match series as the main draw.

Round 1 — group stage

Full round robin within each group. Each community plays 3 series (vs the other 3 in their group). 1 point per match won. Max 9 points per community in R1.

Tiebreakers: match wins → game differential → head-to-head → coin toss.

Everyone ends with a final. All 8 communities play 5 series — 3 in R1, then a Semifinal, then a Final. Nobody goes home after R1.

Player participation rules

  • R1: 3 men + 3 women play per series (1M + 1F + 1Mix). Captain rotates freely — every player guaranteed at least 1 match across the 3 R1 series.
  • All knockouts (SF + Finals, both brackets): 5 matches per series (2M + 2F + 1Mix) — all 5 men + all 5 women play every series. Captain's job is who plays with whom, not who sits.
  • Captains play. They are regular team members on court.
  • 8-player rosters (4M+4W): knockout series needs 5 male slots — one man doubles up. Captain decides who.

Lineup declaration
  • Before each stage: both captains submit sealed lineup sheets to the marshal simultaneously — neither sees the opponent's pairings until that moment.
  • Before the Semifinal: captain submits two sheets at once — SF pairings and Finals pairings together. No changes after submission.
  • Injury mid-match: sub with any unused player from the declared stage lineup. No one outside the lineup can be added.

How many matches will each player play?

Average ~4 matches per player — same for main draw and consolation. Both paths are identical from the Semis onward.

Rules for communities and players

  • Roster: 10 players (5M + 5F) + 2 captains. One player = one community. Rosters lock day after draft.
  • Injury subs: up to 2 per community declared before roster lock. No subs once a series starts.
  • Series: R1 = 3 matches (1M+1F+1Mix). All knockouts = 5 matches (2M+2F+1Mix). All matches played — no early stops.
  • Lineups: sealed sheets submitted before each stage, revealed simultaneously. No changes after submission. At the SF: submit SF + Finals pairings together.
  • Match rules: Superset to 9 · golden point at every deuce · 50-min cap · WPT/FIP rules otherwise · no coaching · warm up on Court 5 only.
  • No-show: pair absent after 5 min = walkover (0-9). Full community no-show = opponent wins series 3-0.
  • Disputes: head referee decides — final.
